Denia, the other city of wind

In spring and summer, Denia offers two very progressive and regular thermal winds, which blow from an East-Southeast direction almost daily.

On sunny days, the typical pattern is as follows: a very gentle breeze early in the morning, which gradually shifts to the east and strengthens to its maximum around midday. This wind is the Garbi.

Then, in the mid-afternoon, this wind shifts, sometimes abruptly, to the Southeast.

This second wind, the Llebeig, can be stronger than the previous one and generally lasts until nightfall.

Since they are not sea winds, we almost always have wind and flat sea in summer.

Denia offers the best sailing conditions on the entire coast of Alicante and Valencia!

The Garbi, the friend of beginners

This wind blows parallel to our beach and gradually increases in intensity.

This allows us to schedule classes to offer each student the conditions that will best suit them.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Gentle wind and flat sea for beginners and younger people.

From 12 to 14h: Sustained wind and slightly choppy sea for the more sporty or experienced sailors.

In Llebeig, things are getting serious

The Llebeig is often moderately strong to strong. It is not uncommon for it to exceed 20 knots.

Furthermore, it's a southeast wind. Which means it blows from the land.

These two aspects encourage caution when sailing.

At Windsurfing Denia, we reserve the time slot from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm for advanced classes, both in Windsurfing and Wingfoil.

Storms also happen

Although they are more common in autumn and winter, we also have occasional stormy days in summer.

They usually last a couple of days of bad weather, with strong winds from the Northwest to Northeast. The waves usually increase considerably.

The monitors are having a great time.
